Do you know what the most unbalanced card in the base set is?

Right now, it's The Coin, with +2.95 sigma! (Next is A2, -2.35 sigma)

Today we bring the 6th iteration of the p1/p2 starting mana system. The first two iterations were asymmetrical systems, the next three were coin-based. With this patch, we return to an asymmetrical system, but something different this time - the starting mana changes based on your mana generator. (In the past, I didn't want to do this because it leaks information about your mana generator, but now I've decided that's not a big deal.) Hopefully we see more varied openings under the new system, with earth no longer always starting at 4.

Principles:

Starting mana must be 3-6.

Mana generator must be always playable on turn 1.

All basics get the same amount of each mana on average.

As such, under the new system, all players start with 3 of each basic, plus mana distributed as follows:

We'll see how the new system works.

Also, fixed some bugs with animations sometimes not playing.


Balance

Elixir Collector, added in the previous patch, is going from 0/20 to 0/18.


Time of Triumph now reads:

Time of Triumph [42 -> 34]

! Spend 8 aether to modify current and future heroes with +4 attack.

Heroes cost 5+. Each cast also makes them take 4 less damage.

Tokens, obviously are not heroes.


New Cards

Ogre's Ignite [Banisher 44]

! Spend 3 aether to make all enemy creatures lose 1 health.

Start of Turn: Repeat this effect for every time you've cast this.

Conflagration [Banisher 46]

! Spend 5 aether to gain a charge. (max 3)

Start of Turn: Deal 2 damage to enemy creatures, one time per charge.

Unearthed Secrets [44]

! Spend 3 aether to activate. (only once)

Start of Turn: +1 Aether if you lost life on your opponent's last turn.

Ogre Magi (5)

Your spells cast an additional time. (If I'm alive and target still legal.)
