v1.8.3: Just a bit more shuffling...


These patches have been a bit chaotic, I know. There's a bit more shuffling I want to do, trying to get the gameplay in a better place, and the color pie a bit more cohesive. Here we go.

(F4) Drake has been moved to A4.

In its place, there's a new F4, Fire Sprite. Take a guess what it does. Great Oak now creates F4, and probably should be renamed, but it hasn't been renamed yet.

(W8) Overlord always felt right as a 9. It's now the (A9), at 5/19 stats.

There's a new (W8) Rain Cloud. It's just a 2/18 with Sweep, nothing too complex.

(A12) Titan is now just an 8/22 haste. The aether spell Titan's Battalion freezes the Titan in addition to the Queen.


Why the changes? I thought that it'd be perfectly thematic, for A12 to be able to go face, and it would lead to less dancing around it. Besides, there's no reason A12 needed to do 10 immediate damage, unlike F9 and E9 which needed to be able to police certain strategies. (F9 needs to kill W12, and E9 needs to be able to kill both F7 and sprite spam.)

But then, it occurred to me that Overlord with A12 would feel a bit bad, because a haste would be wasted. Moving Overlord to A solves that problem.

Drake then got moved to follow overlord for the same reason, and hopefully this also gets Punf to shut up about haste color pie.


Of course, all these changes have resulted in some ripple effects. So some more balance changes for those.

I got rid of all the Glaives. They've been overperfoming, and it feels a bit silly to have them in the game when there's enough flame waves you can get one of any rank you want.

I got rid of Relay of Redistribution. It's underperforming, and it feels like a bad design to me for a few reasons. (Its interaction with elementals, how it creates an 'element order'.)
